The Frugal Dater

Saving while Dating with Cheap and Free Dates

ECards – Just Say No

Posted by Frugal Dater On May - 3 - 2009

I opened up my email yesterday and all the sudden I had some dancing bears and animated hearts showering me with some bad midi music. Verdict – a bad e-card.

ecardThese were fun about 10 years ago, but we’ve moved on since then as an internet community as a whole. Besides if you want to make a lasting impression you have to do more then click twice and add and email address.

With the majority of cell phones having camera’s these days why not send a personal picture of you with 2 lines of personal text. Or better yet if you want a better impression go find a real card and give one out of the blue.

Now as a frugal dater am I going to send $5 for a piece of printed cardboard? That’s a two letter answer that begins with NO. I know when I go to places like Big Lots or Odd Lots they have greeting cards that are up to 70% off.

Write a small note and place it on the front seat of your car when you go to pick up your date (or in the booth of the restaurant after they’ve stepped to the powder room) and just as they’re about to sit on it say “Hey what’s that you’re about to sit on?”

Remember the Frugal rule is to save and not look cheap.
