A buddy of mine told me about a great way he met somebody that would definitely classify as a frugal dating experience.
I want everyone to see this before I go any further – total cost of his date $4.50!!
And she has since told every single one of her girlfriends of the experience. (Now, what he paid aside, good publicity in a ring of gossiping girls is as mastercard would say, priceless) Now on to the details….
My bud, we’ll call him Joe (just to keep him on the anonymous side) doesn’t have his own washer and dryer, and lives too far to go home to have his mom wash his clothes anymore. So part of his weekend routine includes going to the laundromat. Now I had no idea of what a place this was for singles (especially in the city) until Joe told me his story.
He was just sitting around waiting for one of his loads to be done watching everyone when one of the young ladies that he had his eye on seem to have just placed her laundry into on of the dryers and seemed to be searching around patting her pockets for an extra quarter to get it going. What an opportunity! He slowly got up out of his chair and walked on over to her placed a quarter in the slot and rammed that thing in there to get it started.
Well this instantly got the conversation started, where he said he was happy to be able to help out and when he asked what her name was she was more then happy to comply. Joe isn’t one to let an opportunity to pass him by either so he invited her to go walk with him a few shops down so buy her a cup of coffee and then come back to wait for their clothes to be done.
There’s your $4.50
2 cups of coffee @ 2.00 each
I load of laundry @ .50
and an hour or so of conversation
equals 1 urban fairytale
Now whether they live happily ever after is a whole other story, but there were cupid struck again for the moment,
It can happen under $5 for you too.
