Saving while Dating with Cheap and Free Dates

Why Talk?

Posted by Frugal Dater On August - 7 - 2009

textingsexywomenI can remember a time when I didn’t have an unlimited text message plan and that was the only month I really paid for it. With dating today and the way people communicate you almost need a plan that includes an unlimited text messaging piece.

txtMsgMore and more people just prefer to communicate via text messages verses the old fashioned telephone call. Why is this? I’ll break down some of some of the reasons that I’ve gathered:

  1. Your not faced with the instant rejection as on a Voice Call
  2. You can respond in your own time
  3. When it’s time to end things, doing it via text message vs Face to Face just seems to make things easier

Half of the problem seems to be though when you’ve dipped your toe into the relationship pool with a flurry of text messages for days and nights and then decide to meet, can you keep the same attention through a compacted period of time of a first date as nights of SMSing?

Especially if you’ve ever talked to someone that just started online dating. These are the extra cautious people that have head some friends crazy horror story about some stalking psycho that they met online that wants to take things slow with a steady stream of digital correspondence. Half the timie in my opinion these are just people that are either to shy to go out and actually meet somebody because they been crushed in a past love life or they’re not completely single in all senses of the word.

Then add to that Twittering, Instant messeging, and Facebook posts. Just keeping up with everyone can be a full time job in itself, and if you strive to be one of those popular people with friends in the hundreds on each type of service then every friend needs a little attention and love every so often.

samsung-google-android-phoneAnd we haven’t even touched on smart phones yet. Frugal as I am there are still a few luxuries in life I like to keep and my smart phone is one of them. With that said I’m currently getting about 4 email accounts all the time to my smart phone and by the time you answer all the long and short conversations by email. Are there so many more topics to talk about? That’s when you have to get creative. (or have someone that loves to talk on the other end)

Here’s my final note though – if you’re going to text message your workday away either to pass the time or becuase you just might be in love, then do everyone else in the office a favor and put your phone on vibrate.

Yes,the essay was good..I too prefer sms only when i am out in crowd places since disturbance makes things not to communicate well with our closed ones.
