FrugalDate – Baltimore, MD

Posted by Frugal Dater On September - 29 - 2009

freefallbmoreAs part of the Free Fall Baltimore Series, one of the first music events coming up is a Free Bach concert.  Symphony tickets for one can be on the pricey side and not every concert you go to should leave you sweaty and bruised from battles in the mosh pit.

The Bach Concert Series opens its 21st season of free performances with a performance of the beloved Cantata 140: Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme (Wake up, a voice is calling us). Despite the beauty and popularity of Cantata 140, it is rarely performed in Maryland. Don’t miss this great concert!

Free Don’t Disturb Me Sleeping Aid

Posted by Frugal Dater On September - 28 - 2009

DDM_BottleOne of my ex-coworkers used to tell me about how they swore by Tylonal PM to get to sleep at night. I never went that far, or never felt the need for sleeping aids, but I do know that lots of people rely on the. According to their website, Don’t Disturb Me claims to be all natural – if that matters to you.

Sometimes after a night on the town and a big meeting in the morning, you just cant seem to fall asleep though and I’ve even wished that I’ve had a little something so that I could just shut my eyes and wind up in dreamland sooner then later.

My Coke Rewards – Yea or Nay?

Posted by Frugal Dater On September - 27 - 2009

cokeRewardsCap A while back I had read some other cheapskate blogs and they were talking about how they were getting all these great free things just by entering in the cap codes into mycokerewards.com. I’ve been saving my rewards for about a year now, and although I don’t drink absorbent amounts of coke products (and I’m not 100% brand loyal, becuase sometimes it’s a little hard to lay down $5 for a 12 pack, after all that turns into .42 cents a can at the grocery store)

Now previously there was a lady at the previous place that I used to work that used to collect them from all the employees for her grandkids. I could see how this could work, because if you get a bag of them at one time, or on a regular basis then could could actually accumulate a decent amount of points. I had to hand them 25-40 points every other month. A handful of other people did the same thing so add that to their own personal points they could actually get something decent in a relatively short amount of time.

The other problem I’m having is just the flash heavy content of mycokerewards.com (actually it might be FLEX because of all the back end database calls) but there’s a lot of times that it will hang and spin looking up your codes and login information.

Free Rock MP3 Ringtones

Posted by Frugal Dater On September - 7 - 2009

1145557_rock_onI recently attended a free concert fest sponsored by Virgin and while there they where giving away free MP3 ringtones of the bands that were playing, What you want to is is look on the chart below and find the song(s) you want to have sent to your cellphone, find that code and then send it as a message to 75555. Carriers that this is said to work with include AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile, Alltell, Virgin Mobile, Cellular One, and Cincinati Bell. (and although there’s no mention of Metro PCS, Boost, or Cricket, I haven’t been able to find anyone with this type of service so that we could try it or not. It worked on my carrier which is one of the big 3.)
