Saving while Dating with Cheap and Free Dates

Top 10 Creative Date Ideas for Fall / Winter

Posted by Frugal Dater On December - 8 - 2009

Ever seen this on somebody’s online profile “Something other then dinner and a movie” near their first date section? It’s almost the trendy think to put near the bottom of your online dating profile these days – especially on the free dating websites.

Never fear though, we’ve gathered a list just in time for the cold winter breezes that are blowing through to help you come up with some great cheap ways (after all we’re all about being frugal and saving money)  to have a memorable and fun date. Most of these make great first date ideas by the way .  Now onto the list:

Wii Rock!!

Break out that video game console, especially with games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band. These make a great date especially if you’re meeting a new circle of friends.

Leaf

Don’t leave this one out

With all the colors that leaves turn in autumn, grab a rake and go outside and make a big pile and then jump away. Yea, you might just have to do the raking twice, but the fun you have will more then be worth it.

Bowling

Show you Ball skills

Go out bowling (especially if you can find dollar nights at a local bowling alley – these usually happen on the weeknights)

Chips

Lay Your Cards on the Table

Get a poker game going and invite him or her to play. You’ll get a good change to see their poker face and to see how good they are at bluffing.

I’ve been supprised lately on how many women have picked up on the poker craze that has been going around.

Hockey_IceSkate

Don’t be afraid to fall

This is the time when the outdoor skating rinks (and even frozen ponds up north) are opening up to go ice skating. So make sure that your blades are sharp and make sure that you have a little extra padding on if you’re prone to fall and go out there.

Laugh it up in the Warmth

As we’ve found in the past here on FrugalDater, there’s quite a few comedy clubs that offer FREE admission for open mic comedy nights. Or if you want a different kind of chuckle then go watch some of the locals try and show what they got at a local keroke bar. (check our Happy Hour Guide for some locations)

mixer

Make a batch of brownies

There’s few who aren’t a sucker for chocolate. And store bought brownie mix is usually less then $5. Make a list, check it twice (including that you have a pan to cook them in) and go back and ger the oven heated up.

Afterwards you can both share the rewards.

dices

Roll the Dice

Board games are a forgotten great cheap and fun date idea. There’s lots of great adult board games (not that kind of adult) out there to have you laughing together and get the ice broken on your date.

snowman

Play in the Snow

If you’re in an area that gets more then just a few snowflakes every few years, then zip up your jacket, strap on your scarf and romp around.

Make a snowman, have a snowball fight, it’s all good fun and will wisk you away back to childhood.

Boots

Put your Boots on (and help a cause)

The holiday seasons alway bring a cry for volunteer work. Show how big your heart is by offering to go do some volunteer work side by side with your date.

Offer to sign up to feed the homeless or deliver meals on wheels or pass out t-shirts or drinks at one of the charity runs going on.

Who is writing all these comments? They seem really pointless & FAKE. Thanks for the date tips, but they’re not any more creative than any other website has posted. Weirdest comments I’ve ever read. “I really like the colors on your blog, did you do it yourself?” SERIOUSLY?
