One of the most popular postings last year was the listings of all the free movies available around the country. Although most cities haven’t released their schedule of free movies yet (or if they’re even going to be able to do it again this year) we have found a series of free movies being put on by the National Geographic Society in Washington DC. Now since it’s being put on by National Geographic these won’t be films that you would usually see in major theaters but rather documentaries that are a little more insightful.

Here’s the March Schedule
March 2 – Mars: Making the New Earth
Will Mars someday be adapted for human habitation? The notion of “terraforming” Mars has been around for almost a century. Initially just a science fiction concept, it has become a subject of serious scientific investigation. Using photorealistic CGI visualizations, this new NG Channel film offers a breathtaking vision of Mars as a world of trees, rivers and blue skies, after three and a half billion years in a deep freeze. (2009, 48 min))
March 23 – Heart of the Amazon
National Geographic Explorer-in-Residence Wade Davis travels deep into the rain forest to visit the Barasana people and witness a majestic and ancient ritual. Introduced by Dr. Davis and presented as part of the Environmental Film Festival in the Nation’s Capital.
