Just because the Hockey season has just started doesn’t mean that you can’t get your Stanley Cup hopes started early – especially with a visit to see the real Stanley cup live and in person. Now I know if you’re a Stars fan that it’s been a while since it’s been a whirlwind of stanley_cup_hhofplayoff nailbiters.

So if you have a date that’s a Dallas Stars fan (or a sports fan) and don’t have (or don’t want to spend) the money for seats at the Dr. Pepper center at the moment then this is the next best thing. A FREE trip to see the cup.  It’s perfect if you’re on a tight budget while holiday shopping or because you’re still job shopping during the holiday season.

sushi_smWednesday night is rolling around and that means free Sushi  at a couple of places in Dallas, and that’s great news to this Frugal Dater.

I can specifically remember more then one date where  the  girl wanted to go out for sushi and drinks and when the time the bill came it was time for Ole Ben Franklin to make an appearance.

The theory behind all of this I’ve heard is that  with less that you have to spend on the meal you’ll spend more on your bar tab. So where are these magical places you’re asking? Let me share a few of them with you.

It’s Tuesday night and do you know where to take your date for free?

The first Tuesday of the month is coming up and that means FREE admission at the Dallas museum of Art. So hopefully you (and/or your date) enjoys a little culture, as well as a frugal additude.

The current exibit is called Private Universes: Media Works and is a multimedia collection from the Dallas Museum of Art and it’s patrons. They’ve also encorporated the WiFi of the museum to enable people with smartphones and devices to view some of the content wirelessly.

jazz_art_smFree is good, especially in my old stomping grounds of Dallas.

Now not everyone is a jazz fan, but some of the jazz in the DFW area is especially good from some of the musicians coming out of the University of North Texas (after all they’re known for their music program, not their football program).  But if you haven’t given live jazz a chance – what could a little free concert hurt to open up your horizons?
