IndyProv is holding Caffeinated Improv Comedy night at The Bean Cup on S. St. Peter Street. There will be live performers showing off there skills in improvisational comedy at this FREE show.

Mass Ave Theatre and IndyFringe Festival

There will be 53 performance groups from Indiana, U.S.A. and the world. As well as more than 270 live theater performances in 10 days, plus fine arts, film festival, street performers, and lots more.
WHEN: August 21-30, 2009
WHERE: Six venues in the Massachusetts Avenue Cultural District.

COST: Buy a $3 festival badge onsite good for all 10 days, then pay $10 cash per person per show at the door, 30 minutes before any show ($5 under age 12).

FrugalDaters of Indy, we’ve located this weekend’s free venue full of things to do at the Indianapolis African Festival.

The African Center in collaboration with the Office of the Mayor, will host the 10th Annual Indianapolis African Festival. The African Festival on August 14-15, 2009 at the American Legion Mall in Downtown, Indianapolis.

Outdoor movie events seem to be all the rage this summer, and although we’ve found lots and lots of free movies, this event does have a small admission fee. We’ll say though that it’s for a better grade of movie then is normally playing at the Free Screenings (and with admission the crowds shouldn’t be as huge)

The Indianapolis Museum of Art is holding it’s next movie in it’s Summer nights movie series – Hustle and Flow (2005 Rated R)

Summer is still going strong in Indy and so are the FREE Festivals, next up Taste of Downtown.

Enjoy delicious wine, specialties from numerous Downtown restaurants and live music featuring Tastes Like Chicken, The Late Show and The Tides.

Sometimes a first date needs a bit of an icebreaker to get things going and off to the right foot.  Somewhere that has multiple things / activities can be just what you need to get things off to the right start and minimize those awkward silent moments.

I can remember a first date in particular at a place very similar to Incredible Pizza where I lived that had all these sorts of attractions (and even a movie theater to top things off). They had arcade games there as well and had the arcade version of Dance Dance Revolution, I remember telling her a story about some clubbing adventures I had while walking around trying to figure out what game to play next. Then somehow we ended up at that Dance Dance Revolution machine and the next thing I hear is “I wanna see you DANCE!!” Five games later and my initials on the high score had obvioulsy proved my worth to this young lady, and I’m not exactly sure how she remembers the experience, but I have mixed emotions about the whole thing.
I was pretty sorry to see that this place had closed down due to the recession when I went to go meet someone there about a month ago for a different first date.

The city market is holding a free salsa night (although there’s no details on if the band will be live or if it will be a DJ).
